This year’s Aurora Bake Off Charity event was a fantastic success, bringing together the team for a day of delicious creations, friendly competition, and meaningful fundraising. Hosted at our Hertford office, the bake-off brought out the best bakers, all eager to support our chosen charities, Scotty’s Little Soldiers and Neuroblastoma UK.

From sweet to savoury, the day was packed with everything from cupcakes to sausage rolls, with each bake crafted to impress. Not only did we manage to satisfy the office’s collective sweet tooth, but we also raised an impressive £253 for our charities, proving that a little flour power and community spirit can go a long way.

Our esteemed judges, Peter Barners and Darren Caseman, had the challenging (and delicious) task of choosing the winners. Peter assessed the presentation of each entry, while Darren took on the taste-testing role, making for a well-rounded judging experience. After much deliberation, they crowned our three star bakers:

  • 1st Place went to Rodney Golbourn for his perfectly baked sausage rolls, which proved to be a standout savoury entry.
  • 2nd Place was awarded to Brett Thompson for his indulgent Bueno cheesecake, which disappeared almost as fast as it arrived!
  • 3rd Place was scooped up by Laura Holden with her irresistible Biscoff cupcakes, which brought smiles all around.

Congratulations to our winners! You truly rose to the occasion and made the event memorable with your exceptional creations.

Beyond the bake-off itself, the real magic of the day lay in the generous contributions from everyone who took part—whether by baking, tasting, or donating. Thanks to the hard work and passion of all our participants, we made a tangible impact for Scotty’s Little Soldiers and Neuroblastoma UK. We’re proud to have been able to contribute to these wonderful causes, and we look forward to more sweet opportunities to support our communities in the future.

Stay tuned for next year’s bake-off, and remember: there’s always room for more flour power at Aurora!
